Climatic Research Unit (CRU) Scientists Keith Briffa and Thomas M. Melvin Take on Steve McIntyre Who Blogs at Climate Audit

"NOW it was serious. A double-dog-dare. What else was there but a "triple dare you"? And then, the coup de grace of all dares, the sinister triple-dog-dare."---Ralphie (Video)

The University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit (CRU), whose Deputy Director is Keith Briffa (scroll down), has posted an article on its home site that discusses the research of one of its critics, Steve McIntyre, who posts his views on a blog called Climate Audit.

The article is titled "Examining the validity of the published RCS Yamal tree-ring chronology." The article was last updated on October 28, 2009. It's pretty gripping reading as Yamal tree-ring chronologies go. I'm going to play it safe and not comment; instead, I will just quote the postscript:

This response to McIntyre's posting was motivated largely by the wider, often misinterpreted, responses that it generated, both on the Climate Audit website but also in some other media.

We would normally aim to present our work in the peer-reviewed literature. We intend to submit some of this material for publication as part of a wider discussion updating our interpretation of Yamal and other published chronologies.
