Climate Scientist Dr. Michael Mann Cleared of Research Misconduct
Blogger Marc Morano's destructive conspiracy theories about the "plots" of Western climate scientists are nothing new.
Before the so-called "Climategate" scandal (see Pravda here and here and Morano's blog here), there was the KGB's "AIDS Made in America" canard. But in 1992, the political winds changed; and KGB chief Yevgeni Primakov threw the AIDS conspiracy theory---along with the scientists and journalists who spread it---under the bus when he admitted that the KGB had spread the lie that "crafty" Pentagon scientists had bioengineered the AIDS virus as an instrument of biological warfare.
Izvestiya (3-19-92) reported:
[KGB chief Yevgeni Primakov] mentioned the well known articles printed a few years ago in our central newspapers about AIDS supposedly originating from secret Pentagon laboratories. According to Yevgeni Primakov, the articles exposing US scientists' 'crafty' plots were fabricated in KGB offices.

The Soviet regime, which hypocritically touted its ideology as "scientific" Marxism-Leninism, often depicted real scientists as dishonest people motivated by metetricious motives. Marc Morano's propagandistic blog reminds me a lot of Pravda's Stalinist-era propaganda about a non-existent "Doctors' Plot."
Will Virginia's evil, opportunistic, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli---who is probably a shameless tool of fossil fuel interests---continue to persecute Dr. Michael Mann and attempt to stage a show trial to benefit his political sponsors instead of our nation's and the world's future?
Penn State (7-2-10) reports:
Investigation of climate scientist at Penn State complete
Thursday, July 1, 2010
University Park, Pa. — A panel of leading scholars has cleared a well-known Penn State climate scientist of research misconduct, following a four-month internal investigation by the University.
Penn State Professor Michael Mann has been cleared of any wrongdoing, according to a report of the investigation that was released today (July 1). Mann was under investigation for allegations of research impropriety that surfaced last year after thousands of stolen e-mails were published online. The e-mails were obtained from computer servers at the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia in England, one of the main repositories of information about climate change.
The panel of leading scholars from various research fields, all tenured professors at Penn State, began its work on March 4 to look at whether Mann had "engaged in, directly or indirectly, any actions that seriously deviated from accepted practices within the academic community for proposing, conducting or reporting research or other scholarly activities." Mann is one of the leading researchers studying climate change.
A full report on the findings of the committee can be viewed at "Final Investigation Report Involving Dr. Michael E. Mann."
