Ward Churchill's Goon Squad Assaults Fox Reporter Griff Jenkins

Disgraced ex-professor Ward Churchill, center, and his devoted acolyte Ben Whitmer on the left

"I did feel a little bit of danger. I felt they were reckless, Bill. In that one clip you saw was them pushing us around. My brave cameraman, Tom Yakman, and producer, David Legowitz, were trying to protect the camera. They were trying to destroy our camera...his [Ward Churchill's] goons are attacking me."---Griff Jenkins, FOX News Producer

Ward Churchill has still not learned to keep his hands off reporters who approach him for an interview. It's a bad habit he can't seem to break.

Ward Churchill even admits he assaulted his late wife Leah Kelly, but he claims his Indian wife was alcoholic, mentally ill, and assaultive:

"I broke and slammed [my wife] back against our bedroom wall, telling her that if she kept it up, she’d be apt to land in a hospital."

Leah's sister Rhonda sees it differently:

"My sister Leah Renae Kelly had so much promise, but she was involved in an emotionally and mentally abusive marriage, and as a result of feeling that she could not seek real help for fear of having others know of her predicament, she instead turned to alcohol to escape the torment and humiliation in her marital home."

The Denver Post (2-13-05) reports:

Churchill's third wife, 25-year-old Leah Kelly, was killed May 31, 2000, when hit by a car outside Boulder...Kelly had a blood-alcohol content of 0.35 percent when a motorist came upon her outside of town. He said she was lying in the road and he had no time to stop.

Video linked at this Fox News (8-26-08) story shows that ex-professor Ward Churchill, who supposedly champions free speech, grabbed and shoved the microphone of Fox News producer Griff Jenkins as he approached Ward Churchill for an interview in Denver during the Democratic Convention.

Ward Churchill put his right hand around the right hand of Griff Jenkins as the FOX News producer held his microphone and shoved the microphone away. [Watch the video clip included in this article.]

Jenkins watched the video with Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly (8-26-08) and explained:

I did feel a little bit of danger. I felt they were reckless, Bill. In that one clip you saw was them pushing us around. My brave cameraman, Tom Yakman, and producer, David Legowitz, were trying to protect the camera. They were trying to destroy our camera...his [Ward Churchill's] goons are attacking me.

Video I linked to in an earlier post also shows that Jenkins was only trying to interview Ward Churchill.

Glenn Spagnuolo, a leader of Recreate 68, told the Rocky Mountain News (8-24-08):

"Our security pushed him away from (Churchill) because nobody touches Ward while he's here...As soon as he put his hands on him, security moved him away."

The video I have linked to on this post and on the previous post only shows Ward Churchill putting his hand on Griff Jenkins or Churchill's security roughing up Jenkins.

Here is a video from the Rocky Mountain News. This video doesn't show Jenkins touching Ward Churchill, either.

It seems to me that Ward Churchill's security was assaulting a reporter for doing his job.

I remember that Ward Churchill also assaulted Denver's CBS4 News reporter Raj Chohan when the reporter tried to ask Churchill about a painting he plagiarized. Ward Churchill claimed falsely that Raj Chohan had grabbed his arm. The CBS4 video (2-24-05) can be accessed at the bottom of the page.
