$1 Million Reward for Adam Gadahn

PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED IN AFGHANISTAN TO PUBLICIZE $1 MILLION REWARD FOR ADAM GADAHN, AMERICAN FUGITIVE BORN IN CALIFORNIA AND CHARGED WITH TREASON

On October 11, 2006, the Department of Justice announced that the American al Qaeda operative Adam Gadahn had been indicted in the Central District of California "on charges of treason and providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization for making a series of propaganda videotapes for al Qaeda."

The indictment came a month after Gadahn appeared with Ayman al-Zawahiri in a 9-2-06 video titled "An Invitation to Islam." Daniel Pipes has catalogued commentary about this 9-2-06 video and updated information about Gadahn, including unconfirmed reports that he has been killed.

The video and a full transcript are available from Laura Mansfield. Don't miss the mind-numbing video. FOX News (9-3-06) summarizes "An Invitation to Islam."

Little Lord Haw-Haw, a product of home-schooling and al Qaeda brainwashing, comes across as an arrogant, bigoted, sociopathic, unhinged little prig. Adam's lecture on Islam certainly will not make Americans have a good impression of this faith. Nobody will believe that this ignorant boy is illuminated by faith and knows the mind and love of God. Adam's lecture reveals the militant ignorance of al Qaeda, and he does it in English.

Here is the indictment and some background on Gadahn from the Counterterrorism Blog (10-11-06). The FBI has posted his wanted poster here.

The delusional, finger-wagging Gahahn popped up in May 2007, and scolded President Bush in this video, courtesy of ABC's The Blotter (5-29-07).

There is some evidence that Adam Gadahn has been killed, but there is no proof. The Counterterrorism Blog (5-18-08) recently taunted Adam:

So, Adam, in the event that you are still out there (alive, kicking, and reading this message), please do drop a line and let us know what has become of you!

The FBI (5-30-08) has just posted a press release about the launching of a publicity campaign in Afghanistan to find the indicted traitor Adam Gadahn:

The FBI has partnered with the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security in launching a publicity campaign in Afghanistan to find Adam Gadahn, a fugitive wanted by the FBI on charges of treason and material support of terrorism, announced Salvador Hernandez, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI in Los Angeles and Gregory B. Starr, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security. Gadahn, who is believed to be an integral part of al-Qaeda's media and recruitment branch, has endorsed terrorist activity, including calling for the murder of Americans in U.S. cities, and has implored Americans to renounce their allegiance to the United States, among other crimes alleged in the indictment...

In February of this year, Pakistani media outlets reported that Gadahn was killed in an air strike there with known al-Qaeda associate, Abu Laith al-Libi. The FBI has neither confirmed nor denied these reports and does not possess conclusive evidence or reliable confirmation that these reports are accurate. In the absence of such confirmation, Gadahn is considered a fugitive and is currently being sought by the FBI.

Salvador Hernandez, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI in Los Angeles expressed optimism that the Rewards for Justice initiative would aid investigators in finding Gadahn, whose capture is a top priority in Los Angeles where he is charged with treason. “The FBI will continue to investigate at home and by building partnerships abroad to find and arrest Gadahn, who has repeatedly vowed his support for a terrorist organization and who has endorsed the death of Americans through terrorist acts.”

...United States Attorney Thomas P. O’Brien said, “As the first person charged with treason against the United States since World War II, the capture of Adam Gadahn is a high priority for the Justice Department. This man has advocated the overthrow of the United States government and applauded the murder of United States citizens. He deserves to be prosecuted, and I hope this new campaign will help bring him to justice.” [full text]
